Living Room Ceiling Painting Tricks To Learn In Winter Garden, FL

When you're looking to get your living room looking its best, it's entirely possible that you won't think about the ceiling and yet you would recognize if you walked into a room and the ceiling did not look right at all.

This can be the case whether you perhaps painted it a color that is not appropriate for a living room or even if it has just been so long since it was painted that it no longer looks as nice as it once did.

However, if you're going to be taking on a painting project it's good to learn about how to do it properly and in the case of a ceiling in your living room that is quite significant indeed.

With that being the case, let's have a look at some living room ceiling painting tricks to learn when you want a well painted living room ceiling.

1. Use The Right Sort Of Paint

One quite important thing that you're going to want to do when you're looking at painting the ceiling in your living room is to make sure that you are using the right sort of paint.

Paint that easily is going to drip down as you are applying it to the ceiling, for example, is not going to be good to use as you are going to be covering your whole ceiling and you don't want to find yourself with so much of the paint dripping down while you are applying it, even if you use the best technique to applying it to the ceiling.

Instead, what you want to do is to make use of a paint that is meant for ceilings -- and even though you are using such a ceiling friendly paint you still are going to have to protect your floor (more on this in a bit.)

2. Plan Out The Painting Project

Though you may look at a painting project such as a living room ceiling painting project and think there is not much to be planned, that is not at all the case and you will find that you will ultimately save quite a bit of time when you have made the time to plan out the project.

Indeed, you need to really consider how much there is to be painted and this can be accomplished by measuring the dimensions of the ceiling, which are not always as simple as taking the length and width and multiplying one by the other -- for living rooms often will take on more complicated dimensions than a simple rectangle.

Once you know how many square feet there are to be painted, you are going to be able to figure out not only how long it is going to take to apply paint and primer to your ceiling, but to make a plan for yourself so you can tell when you can walk away from the room to allow surfaces to dry.

This is going to be also good in that you will be able to calculate how much paint and primer you are going to need for the duration of the painting project.

3. Remove Furniture / Cover The Floor

As carefully as we are when we apply paint to the floor, there's still a good chance that paint is going to drip down during the painting process and that's why it's important that we take all precautionary measures in order to keep the things in the room protected.

We should, for example, remove as much of the furniture as we possibly can -- and whatever cannot be removed should be carefully covered with tarp or drop cloth so that paint does not get onto it -- and you should try to move it to be out of the way so that it does not become a tripping impediment.

You should also think about how you are going to be able to cover the floor to protect it from the very same dripping paint -- for while it might only take a few seconds for paint to drip onto the floor, it takes quite awhile to remove paint from the floor once it dries.

It's much better to spend the time to apply a heavy drop cloth or a tarp to the floor before you paint so that the paint that drips down falls on these protective surfaces rather than your actual floor -- it's not like you're looking to make abstract art on your floor that might even make for a slip hazard while you are walking around the room going from one area to another.
